3 months in Central america on $1000

My little bro has only been back for a week and we are going to be posting pictures and full details. He got a cheap flight into Cancun from Kansas City. While in Cancun he stayed away from the tourist hotels and still enjoyed ice cold air conditioning at night. After only 2 days in Cancun he traveled south to the mexican border with belize. Let me say that for a young twenties college student to embark on such a voyage alone gave me quite a bit of concern that he would be kidnapped held for a million dollar ransom and then viciously killed without us ever seeing him again. We'll he made it only having to fend off attackers by Machette, which can be purchased for about $1.50. He only had to bribe about 20 people most of who posed no major concern but were just annoying as hell. He visited La Paz and ventured out to some costal islands for a week and a half and enjoyed life right near da beach, right on the beach in fact. Spending a few nights on his own private island camping. After that it was off to Guatemala and staying at a hostel near a legendary lake. While there he rented a dirt bike with gas for $5 for a whole day and went all the way around this huge lake and we'll post pictures to document soon. It was beautiful country. The last leg of his journey involved crossing into Honduras and on to the island of Utila. He got an airconditioned apartment right on the beach for about $80 dollars a week. The scuba diving in Utila is top notch and fully recomended. After about 3 weeks there he journied back to Cancun for a Christmas Day flight back to Kansas City. His photos are awsome and will be posted this coming week. We will provide much much more details of his journey that will surely help the backpacking ecco minded hostel staying traveler with excellent ideas for their own adventures. Stay tuned.....
